Kia Rio: dose of technology at cost price

Years ago, Korean models began to circulate through our streets as now the Chinese do, skepticism and the most diverse opinions. The passage of time has suited them well and the first rough vehicles remain, poorly equipped and with minimal arguments to face a market in full swing. Firms like Kia have known how to mark their own path, associating its image with reliability and value for money. After three years on the market, it is time to update the Kia Rio presented in 2017, a model that competes in the Seat Ibiza segment, the Citroën C3, the Volkswagen Polo and that it only beats the Dacia Sandero in price. This restyling improves the design, both exterior and interior, of this compact but also presents a gasoline engine with Mild Hybrid technology, a new gearbox and improvements in the technological section. It has a starting price of 13 046 euros for the version with 84 CV atmospheric block.

Of all the novelties presented in this Kia Rio the most significant is undoubtedly the introduction of a light hybridization system. For this they use a 1.0 T-GDi gasoline block that offers 101 or 120 horsepower and starts at 15,296 euros. This technology allows you to wear the ECO sticker of the DGT, with what this means during pollution alert days. They also introduce a new gearbox with electronic clutch, a solution that allows it to be disconnected from the engine to reduce consumption and activate without being noticeable to the driver.

The aesthetic touches are quite light but allow the Kia Rio fight in a constantly evolving segment. The front bumper has been redesigned and there are two new body colors: Sporty Blue and Prennial Gray. The 16-inch alloy wheels are also back cut and finish GT Line, which joins the Concept and Drive, brings a very successful sporty touch to the car. In the gallery we go on to detail all the changes related to this new Kia Rio 2021, which comes with a lot of technology and security systems worthy of a higher segment. An example of this is the emergency braking with pedestrian recognition, alert for involuntary lane change, active cruise control, cross traffic warning and many other state-of-the-art systems.
