These are the best Android watches of 2021 | Digital Trends Spanish
Yes, the Apple Watch is the best smartwatch on the market, but what about Android users? If you’re looking for a smartwatch and you have an Android phone, don’t worry: there are plenty of options to choose from, regardless of whether you want something stylish or sporty. We gather here the best Android watches you can find in 2021.
The list doesn’t just include watches that use Google’s Wear OS software, it also features Samsung’s Tizen software. On the other hand, keep in mind that almost all smart watches will work correctly with your Android cell phone, except the Apple Watch.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 3
The best of all Android
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 (starting at $ 399) is the closest thing to an Apple Watch for your Android phone. By this we mean that it is a delightful combination of design and solid hardware, reliable and attractive software, and an ingenious user-friendly control system. The Galaxy Watch 3 uses Samsung’s Tizen OS rather than Google’s Wear OS, and it’s much better for it.
Before talking about your software, let’s consider your design. The round case comes in two sizes, a 41mm one for smaller wrists and a larger 45mm one. It has an AMOLED touchscreen on the front, and the surrounding bezel is more than just a decorative feature – it’s the key to controlling your watch.
It’s a wonderfully ergonomic experience to rotate the bezel with your finger and navigate through the software menus, then use the touchscreen to select your options. It’s neater and easier to use than similar systems built into the crown of some Wear OS smartwatches. Samsung’s software is brilliant, attractive, fast, and reliable, plus it’s packed with features.
The watch receives notifications from your phone, measures heart rate, takes blood oxygen levels, tracks activities and fitness, watches your sleep, and can even take an EKG reading. The battery lasts for a full day with heavy use, but it can last up to two days if you turn off the watch at night.
All of this adds up to a highly desirable smartwatch, which works with any Android smartphone through Samsung’s Wear app, even works with Apple’s iPhone (if you don’t mind missing out on some key features). Prices for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 start at $ 399, so it’s not a cheap smartwatch, but it’s so solid and usable that it’s worth buying.
Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3
The best Wear OS
Mobvoi’s TicWatch Pro 3 represents the pinnacle of Wear OS smartwatch technology right now; It excels at providing a long battery life thanks to the ingenious use of a second screen. It is the first smartwatch available with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor, as well as being much more capable than the older Snapdragon Wear 3100, found in most competing models.
This fast processor is more energy efficient on its own, but in the TicWatch Pro 3 it is combined with a second LCD screen, which takes care of the ambient screen – which is always on – to drastically reduce power consumption. We got three days of use from the TicWatch Pro 3 in our review, which is three times what many other smartwatches can offer. Mobvoi has used this technology before, but has enhanced it here with a backlight, making it easier to view at night. Also, if you use essential mode, the standby mode can be extended to 45 days by removing some of the connected features.
You can track your fitness, sleep, and activities with the TicWatch Pro 3, which also has a heart rate sensor and is capable of reading oxygen levels in your blood. It has an IP68 water resistance rating, plus many Mobvoi apps with breathing exercises, relaxation methods, and exercise plans. While the style is a bit ordinary, it is well built and comfortable to wear, despite the 47mm size.
Its weak point is Google’s Wear OS software, which is not as reliable as Samsung’s Tizen. But putting that aside, the $ 299 Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 is the most powerful smartwatch you can buy for your Android phone, not to mention the longest-lasting battery.
Skagen Falster 3
The most fashionable
The Skagen Falster 3 ($ 295) perfectly balances an understated design with the best technology. The 42mm body has a 1.2-inch OLED screen and three buttons on the side for a sleek look that fits most wrists. The stainless steel Falster 3 comes in bronze gray with a choice of colored straps, or an all-black stealth design if you choose the special edition Falster 3 X By Kygo.
It uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 platform with 1GB of RAM, it also has NFC for Google Pay, GPS, a heart rate monitor, the ability to make and receive calls from your phone and the latest version of Google’s WearOS software.
Performance is good too and the battery will last for a day even with a training session, plus it fully charges in about an hour. The WearOS drawbacks disappoint, but are downplayed in the excellent Skagen Falster 3.
If the design is too minimal for you, take a look at the Fossil Gen 5, which shares the same technology, but in a slightly larger body with a 44mm version.
The best style
After a much-needed price cut to $ 299, the Moto 360 has become a more tempting option. Made from thick stainless steel, and available in gold, steel, and black finishes with a variety of straps, it’s a smartwatch with a great look.
The top button on the side of the case swivels for easy navigation through WearOS and there’s a heart rate monitor on the back. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform with 1GB of RAM powers the Moto 360.
We have added this watch to the list due to its sleek design and manageable size, making it suitable for many people. Plus, its simple software rigidly sticks to the standard WearOS for relatively smooth performance. Battery life is good too, although it won’t last you more than a full day.
Kate Spade Scallop 2
Best for women
Kate Spade is known for being a very cutting edge and technological company, and the Kate Spade Scallop 2 proves it. The Scallop 2 features a classic design similar to the original, but also incorporates other aesthetic aspects associated with the Kate Spade brand for a fresher appearance. It’s slim, which is helpful in ensuring the watch looks stylish, and it has brand-new tech including GPS, a heart rate sensor, new watch faces, and NFC for Google Pay.
We really like the smart watch face, which can be configured to match the color scheme of your outfit. Don’t be intimidated by the 42mm body – the screen measures just 1.2 inches, making the watch very compact and portable. There are several smartwatches for women with Wear OS, mainly made for small wrists, but this is our favorite. However, you shouldn’t completely discount the original Scallop, as it has most of the functions of its successor.
Best for running
Suunto is best known for its strong fitness watches, but in early 2020 it released its first Google WearOS-powered smartwatch. The Suunto 7 embraces the brand’s sporty design and excellent fitness tracking capabilities, combining it with the most common software and excellent battery life. With regular use, it lasts two days without needing a recharge.
Additionally, the watch comes loaded with Suunto’s comprehensive training app, along with a smart “heat” map showing local walking and running routes. It also has a heart rate monitor on the back and GPS, in addition to the usual functions, including NFC. The battery improvements come from a close association with Qualcomm and adjustments made to the chipset Snapdragon 3100 inside the watch.
The Suunto 7 isn’t cheap for a WearOS watch, but it’s about what you’d expect to pay for a top-notch GPS-based fitness tracker smartwatch without Google software.
Amazfit GTR 2
If you have looked for a cheap smartwatch on Amazon you may have come across Amazfit models. Forget what you may have heard about the first generation of these watches, because the latest models, the GTR 2 and GTS 2, have improved a lot.
The GTR 2 features an aluminum and glass front with a plastic back. The watch is thin and light, and it has a very nice 1.39-inch AMOLED screen, which is sharp and colorful. This watch works with Amazfit’s own software, on which Amazon has made most of its improvements. That said, the watch has proven to be fast and reliable in our tests. Pairing with the phone is also much better than before, plus the Zepp application needed to sync the clock is much faster and more attractive.
The GTR 2 watch includes a heart rate sensor and can measure oxygen levels in the blood, features expected to be found in more expensive models, but there are only 12 training modes available to track. The Amazfit GTR 2 is not perfect, as it still has some software problems, but it looks brilliant, works well, and costs only $ 179.
