How to change the voice of Siri | Digital Trends Spanish
Maybe you don’t like the voice of Siri. Perhaps you would prefer that “she” was a “he”, or how about that he speaks to you in English and with a British accent? Be that as it may, in this article we will explain how to change the voice of Siri, going through the iPhone, iPad and Mac. We will also show you how to change its language, in case you want to speak with the Apple assistant in another language.
How to change Siri’s voice on iPhone and iPad
Changing Siri voice on iPhone and iPad is easy. Just go to Settings > Siri and Search > Siri voice.
When you’re in the menu Siri voice, you can choose between different accents. If you have the phone in Spanish, you can choose between a Spanish and a Mexican accent, and if you have it in English you can find an American, Australian, British, Indian, Irish and South African accent. You can also choose between two genders: female and male. Select your preferred accent and gender for Siri and return to the main screen.
That is all. Keep in mind that, if you have an iOS 10 operating system, you must go to the option Siri after Settings, instead of going to Siri and Search. If you have iOS 9, you should go to Settings > general > Siri > Siri voice.
How to change Siri voice on Mac
Changing Siri voice on Mac is also painfully easy. Just go to System preferences > Siri > Siri voice. Again, you have the option to choose between different accents and between female and male gender. Select your preference and you’re done.
How to change Siri language
You’ve probably noticed in the screenshots above that you can also change the Siri language. This is also easy to set up and can be useful for you if you are multilingual or just want to practice speaking to robots in another language.
On iPhone and iPad, go to Settings > Siri and Search > Language. You have a wide variety of options to choose from, but consider that if you change the language Siri will reset itself. In this case, you will have to check the option Activate when hearing “Hey Siri” again and you will have to teach Siri how to recognize your voice in whatever language you have selected.
If you want to do this on Mac, go to System preferences > Siri > Language.
Note that changing Siri language, on Mac or any iOS device, will also change the accent options available. So, for example, if you select the French language, you will have to choose between a French and a Canadian accent.
