Huawei confirms the launch of the Mate X2, its next foldable | Digital Trends Spanish

“The new generation of the folding flagship Huawei MateX2 will debut soon.” In this way, the Chinese manufacturer Huawei confirmed the imminent arrival of its next folding phone.

With a publication on her official profile the Chinese social network Weibo (via The Verge), the company announced that the arrival of the device is scheduled for February 22, 2021.

Although the name suggests that it could be a continuity of the Mate X family, strictly speaking it is about the evolution of the Mate XS, the folding device that arrived in February 2020.

Huawei’s publication on the Weibo social network, anticipating the design and release date of its next folding phone, the Mate X2.

Huawei’s advertising image allows anticipating that the Mate X2 could change its design, with a screen that would fold horizontally. In this way, it could be more similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold.

The Mate XS folded, but not like a book: the top cover opens to the right and not to the left.

Beyond this evolution in aesthetic terms, little is known regarding the technical characteristics that the Mate X2 will offer.

Considering the sanctions imposed by the United States, it is most likely that it will arrive equipped with the Kirin 9000 processor that is available in the Mate 40 Pro, released in October 2020.

For the same reason, it would not have the Android operating system either, but would have Harmony OS, the proprietary platform that Huwaei developed to circumvent US restrictions.
