And although you may not now have a device that can connect to it, the day of full coverage is fast approaching; proof of this is the growing number of 5G cell phones that are already available. But exactly where is the 5G network located? Each company has been working at its own pace and in different cities; To help you keep up with them, we put at your disposal the different 5G coverage maps.
To use 5G, you will need two things: A 5G-compatible cell phone and a company that offers it. Today there are a large number of 5G compatible cell phones on the market, including the full iPhone 12 series, which supports all forms of 5G. It is also important to note that not all cell phones that support 5G will offer you the super speeds that you might expect. For example, some cell phones only support low-band 5G, while others support all 5G frequencies.

Note that 5G is typically only available in select areas of cities, so even if a city is said to have 5G, this does not mean that the network is available throughout the city – let alone in suburbs or more rural areas. . AT&T 5G availability
AT&T has an extensive 5G network, but as you’d expect, the type of connection you get will depend on where you live.
Some details about the types of 5G: There are currently two types of 5G in use: Sub6 and mmWave. The Sub6 relies on low frequencies to deliver a much larger network, but speeds are typically only slightly faster than the 4G network. Although mmWave connections rely on much higher frequencies that deliver dramatically faster download speeds, those radio waves cannot physically travel long distances or overcome obstacles like walls or even windows.
The AT&T network relies heavily on 5G Sub-6, especially for its “national” network. And depending on your city, your 5G Sub-6 may actually be the same speed, or less, than 4G because AT&T doesn’t have enough spectrum to roll out both networks at the same time. In some cities, the company offers mmWave (5G +, as AT&T calls it) with super-fast speeds, but that type of connection is still extremely limited to a few streets in a few major cities. They are still testing it.
It is important to note that AT&T actually wants you to think that you are always connected on 5G. If you don’t have a 5G-compatible phone, you might still have a little icon saying you’re on “5GE,” but it’s not really 5G – it’s just AT & T’s new brand name for 4G.
T-Mobile 5G availability
T-Mobile was the first company to roll out its 5G network nationwide, however that network also relies heavily on Sub-6 spectrum, so it won’t be as fast as the mmWave networks some expect when they hear the term “ 5G ”or watch a company’s television commercials. T-Mobile’s strategy has focused on including the Sub-6 5G in exactly the same towers that currently have 4G, so the speed is almost the same for both networks.
T-Mobile is not using mmWave much, although at some point it will be rolling out mmWave as part of its different types of networks to meet the needs of different types of population densities. For now, users can expect slightly faster speeds than 4G in most relatively populated areas. The company is currently the only one offering 5G in all 50 US states.
T-Mobile is also rolling out its 5G network on what used to be Sprint’s spectrum after the Sprint and T-Mobile merger.
Verizon 5G Availability
Verizon’s current 5G network isn’t as big as AT&T or T-Mobile, but it’s getting better. After years of focusing exclusively on mmWave and covering a very small portion of the country in the process, Verizon activated its “national” 5G network using Sub-6. But while it has a presence in many more places than mmWave, it still has a somewhat limited outlook across the country and is really only available in densely populated areas. At the very least you can expect good speeds when you get to have it.
Verizon continues to strongly opt for its mmWave network, despite the fact that this network remains highly unreliable. Due to range limitations and administrative hurdles, mmWave is inherently much more difficult to represent on an online map. Walking 30 meters could make a difference between being in or out of the coverage area.
