2022 Infiniti QX60 SUV Debuts Nine-Shift Transmission | Digital Trends Spanish
The Infiniti QX60 has been on the market since 2013. However, a change was much needed to keep up with tough competition. And for 2021 important developments are expected, such as a completely different bodywork and a new nine-speed transmission.
In September 2020, Infiniti had unveiled the QX60 Monograph concept, which gave some hints of what the exterior of this new three-row SUV will look like when it is introduced in late 2021.
The six-cylinder engine now dumbbells with a new nine-speed transmission, leaving aside the box type CVT (continuously variable transmission).
Infiniti claims that this engine-transmission package has been substantially improved to offer a smoother and more powerful ride, while also delivering a balance between fuel economy and power, ideal for moving the QX60 with ease.
In the mode Sport from the transmission, the box simulates the toe-heel effect of a sports car, where it keeps the engine revs high and leaves the downshift ready to accelerate in a linear and forceful way.
Where there will be no changes will be in the engine. The Infiniti keeps the 3.5-liter V6, it has some touches to put the power down at 295 horsepower, a little more than what we saw in the new Pathfinder during its presentation in early February 2021.
The traction system has not yet confirmed anything. However, since the Pathfinder will be available with strength in all four corners, we could expect some similar mechanics, maybe not 4 × 4 but with torque distribution between both axles.
Regarding the interior, nothing has been said. But keeping in mind what is seen in equipment and finishes of the Pathfinder, we do not doubt it will be something more refined and oriented to luxury. We will have to wait for more details and final images.
