How to send text messages through Apple iMessage
Although previously the application only handled iMessage, later versions of Apple’s operating system include an option specifically designed to forward SMS messages directly to your Mac or other iOS device. Once it is configured correctly, you can send messages from your computer to any known number very quickly using the Messages application and receive them in a similar way without even looking at your phone.
Step 1: To configure iMessage and SMS forwarding on your iOS device, go to the main menu “Settings” and select “Messages”.
Step 2– Turn on “iMessage” and make sure you are signed in to the same iCloud account as all other devices using Messages. Also, make sure all your devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Step 2a: on your Mac, open the app Messages and choose “Messages”. Then navigate to “Preferences” and choose iMessage.
Step 3– Tap “Text Message Forwarding,” toggle the switch directly to the right of the Apple device you want to send SMS messages to, and then enter the six-digit confirmation code displayed on the device.
