The E3 2021 event is just around the corner and it comes loaded with announcements that will surprise players. The convention begins on Saturday, January 12, and for four days, companies such as Xbox, Nintendo, Ubisoft and many more, will be holding their respective live conferences, which you can watch for free on different platforms.
In these presentations, the industry giants will reveal release dates, updates and trailers for different games. Some have already confirmed their appearance, but the rest will be totally surprise. In the meantime, we can only speculate on what we are going to see. That is why in this article we have rounded up the most anticipated and rumored games and conferences of E3 2021.
So that you do not miss any presentation, check the schedules of each one in our E3 2021 guide.
Xbox and Bethesda
This year, Xbox and Bethesda will hold their conference together, which is due to the recent purchase of ZeniMax by Microsoft. With this purchase, all ZeniMax studios – such as Bethesda, id Software, Arkane Studios and many more – joined the Xbox family, so franchises such as Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, DOOM, Dishonored and Wolfenstein are now part of Xbox Game Pass.
This alliance also seeks to expand its horizons in relation to its content and its exclusive games, which is why Bethesda projects will be present within the Xbox conference. Prepare for a presentation of approximately 90 minutes.
We start with Starfield, which will be one of the featured games of the presentation. With the purchase of Bethesda, it may be a Windows and Xbox exclusive title, at least that’s what gamers believe. It is also thought that it could arrive in 2022, but nothing has been confirmed so far.
What is really known about Starfield is that it is a single player RPG, that it is set in space and that the development of the game is in charge of those who worked on the modern games of Fallout and The Elder Scrolls. That’s why they probably announce the release date of Starfield at the conference, accompanied by a look at the gameplay or at least a trailer.
On the other hand, we have a game that fans of the Halo saga have been waiting for a long time, Halo: Infinite. The title has been in the works for years and was actually planned to launch alongside the Xbox Series X and S in November 2020; however, the pandemic and other factors affected its development.
The new Halo is planned to be released in the fall of 2021 (from the United States), but it does not have a release date yet, so that important detail could be confirmed at the Xbox conference. They will most likely feature a trailer or demo of the gameplay of Halo: Infinite, but it will be present anyway, since it is one of the title games in the conference.
Forza Horizon 5 is another title that they will likely reveal at the event, along with a release date. It is even possible that a game trailer will appear showing the power of the Xbox Series X and S consoles, with incredible graphics and postcards of the new Forza.
Other games that could also appear in some form are Sea of Thieves, perhaps with new content; Flight Simulator, with a release date for consoles; and finally Age of Empires IV, also with a release date and possibly a new trailer.
On the other hand, we have Psychonauts 2. This game will also be part of the Xbox conference, since its studio called Double Fine belongs to Microsoft. Finally, if we are lucky, something might appear about Wolfenstein III or The Elder Scrolls VI, although there is nothing confirmed so far.
This year’s Nintendo conference will last 40 minutes and will focus exclusively on content for the Nintendo Switch, especially what is planned for this year. Then they will show three hours of gameplay with their streaming Nintendo Treehouse Live. There are rumors that the Big N will present an improved version of the current Switch, but as the company has confirmed that they will only show software announcementsApparently we will not see anything from the “Nintendo Switch Pro”.
Regarding the games that will possibly appear in the Nintendo Direct, we have: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. During E3 2019, Nintendo announced the sequel to the popular title, but no further details have been revealed since. This is why the convention is the best instance to show the game and give a release date, especially since this year the saga turned 35.
Splatoon 3 is another game that could be present. This was announced earlier this year with a trailer, which featured some customization options and two game scenarios: a desert one called Splatlands and a new city titled Splatsville. That time they also pointed out that the title will be released in 2022, so it is likely that now they will show more details and videos.
On the other hand, The Pokemon Company revealed the release date of Shiny Diamond Pokémon Y Shimmering Pearl recently, which will be available from November 19 of this year. Since that day is not so far off, E3 is a good opportunity to show more of the game.
Finally, there are some franchises that will make their return with the Nintendo Switch at some point, such as Bayonetta 3 Y Metroid Prime 4, and fans are eager to hear news about these games. As they are titles that were announced a long time ago – in 2017 to be exact – and about which there is not much information, Nintendo could take this opportunity to surprise everyone with more details.
Ubisoft has already announced a couple of games that are currently in development. One of them, and perhaps the most anticipated, is Far Cry 6, which will premiere on October 7 of this year and has the participation of actor Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking bad).
Recently, the company revealed a series of videos about the new title, showing part of the gameplay, some weapons already Dani Rojas with its female version (since in Far Cry 6 you can choose the gender of the main character). Even so, at E3 they will take advantage of sharing even more details and material about the game.
The company will also reveal the playability of the new installment of Rainbow six, which has been a mystery since it was announced at E3 2019. That time, the game was featured as Rainbow six quarantine, but it is rumored that due to the pandemic and what the word “quarantine” means to the world (Quarantine), it will be renamed as Rainbow Six Parasite.
Other games that will appear at the Ubisoft conference include Riders republic, an open-world massively multiplayer with extreme sports, and the free-to-play competitive sports Roller Champions, which will be released this year. We will also see updates on new content for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Y Rainbow six siege. Finally, they might surprise us with some news about Skull and bones Y Beyond Good and Evil 2, Of which we have not heard news for a long time, although the latter has not been confirmed by Ubisoft.
This company has several games in development that could appear at E3 2021, but when it announced its presentation schedule a few days ago, it confirmed only a couple of games that will appear at the event: Babylon’s Fall, Life is Strange: True Colors Y Marvel’s avengers.
Babylon’s Fall is an original IP of Platinum Games (developers of NieR: Automata) that was announced at E3 2018. Since that time, little has been known about the game. However, Square Enix will announce new details about its process at the conference.
We will also see more than Life is Strange: True Colors, the third main installment of this saga. In March, the company revealed the trailer official along with its release date – September 10, 2021 – but Square Enix is likely to show some of the gameplay now. On the other hand, we can also see the expansion of Black Panther in Marvel’s avengers, which is titled War for Wakanda.
Dragon Quest XII is another title that can be part of the presentation, since it was officially announced only a few days ago. within a live special celebrating 35 years of the series, the developers showed the game’s title: Dragon Quest XII: The Flame of Fate. However, it was not accompanied by other details, that is why we could see a trailer or a video with the gameplay during E3 2021.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that the large community of Final Fantasy fans are waiting to receive news from Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 Y Final Fantasy XVI, so they might be in for a surprise. Also, we may possibly see something about Neo: The World Ends with You, which will premiere on July 27 of this year; Forspoken, planned for 2022, and a rumored game of Guardians of the Galaxy.
Not much is known about what Take-Two Interactive may present at E3, especially since some games that are under its supervision, such as Red Dead Redemption 2 Y Grand theft auto v, they constantly receive updates for their online modes.
Everyone would like to see an announcement for a new GTA, or even a remastered version of the one. Red dead redemption original, but it is highly unlikely to happen. Instead, we may see more content for current titles, or a demonstration of what it looks like. GTA V on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S, as it will hit those platforms in November.
On the other hand, 2K Games (which is part of Take-Two) revealed in 2019 that they were working on a new game of BioShock. That time they mentioned that the title would be in development for “the next few years”, so it is likely that now they already have a couple of news to announce.
There are several Bandai Namco games that will be released soon and that could be present at E3 2021, such as Digimon Survive, Scarlet nexus Y Tales of Arise. However, the title that many players expect the most is Elden ring.
This action RPG game was announced as a collaborative project between FromSoftware studio and writer George RR Martin in 2019, but since then, we have not heard any major news about the game. It is time for Bandai Namco to reveal information about the long-awaited Fantastic Worlds title.
Warner Bros. Games
There are four standout titles Warner Bros. Games is working on, all of which will likely appear at their E3 2021 presentation. Two of them are highly anticipated titles from the DC Universe: Gotham knights Y Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, and the others are Hogwarts legacy Y Back 4 Blood.
The launch of Hogwarts legacy initially it would be this year, but it will finally be released in 2022. On the other hand, Back 4 Blood, From creators of Left 4 Dead, will be released on October 12, 2021, so we will probably see a new video with the gameplay.
Capcom has had a busy year, with the release of Monster hunter rise in March, and Resident Evil: Village in May. Even so, there are more games on the way that could be in E3 2021, such as Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wing of Ruin, Resident Evil Re: Verse, and The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles.
There is not much information on what Sega will announce at E3 2021, but what is certain is that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the beloved blue hedgehog: Sonic The Hedgehog. Therefore, we will most likely see content from Sonic Colors: Ultimate, which will be released on September 7, and a new title in the franchise.
