Honor Mexico: “We want to be a brand without ties” | Digital Trends Spanish
The commercial veto of the United States towards Huawei had as one of its consequences the sale of Honor, the manufacturer recognized for offering affordable smartphones, mainly. Already under the supervision of a group of investors from China, the division seeks to position itself as a brand without ties, according to Ana Sofía Peterson, Public Relations manager at Honor México.
He refers that the independence of the company helps to consolidate commercial partners and to continue developing technology for the benefit of consumers. “We are completely open to innovation”, emphasizes the manager.
An example of this is the recent commercial alliance with Qualcomm, which will allow Honor to integrate the Snapdragon 778G processor —compatible with 5G— in its Honor 50 series. “The announcement with the chip manufacturer represents a very important guideline of what we can achieve in the future, ”adds Peterson.

Both the Honor View40 – which was rated the first smartphone of the company already without the supervision of Huawei – like the next Honor 50, which will be presented on June 16, 2021 in China, they are nothing more than a reflection of the capacity that the company has, says the manager.
“They are a before and after for the brand, not only in China, but worldwide. They will show us that Honor will continue to grow and expand ”.
Explains that of the 8,000 employees in the firm, 50 percent is dedicated to research and development, which gives the opportunity to continue creating both cell phones and other types of devices that complement the strategy of “1 + 8 + N”, which seeks the creation of an interconnected system and is inherited from Huawei.
In this sense, Peterson indicates that although there is already total independence from the manufacturer, this does not mean that they will put aside strategies that arose while Honor was under their shelter.
Regarding the growth of the firm, he states that last year it had a presence in 70 countries, but currently “we are already in more than 100 nations and territories, that is, Honor is expanding in an exceptional way.”
In Latin America, in addition to Mexico, the company has a presence in countries such as Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Guatemala.
Right in the Aztec country, Honor presents this June 10 the MagicBook 14 laptop and the Band 6 smart bracelet.
According to Peterson, the computer is intended for both students and professionals. “We are targeting the segment that is in the modality of home office or the hybrid office system, which demands the constant use of virtual conference platforms. The extra would be everything that has to do with entertainment on the laptop. “
